I was appointed to the Board of Directors of the company at twenty nine years of age in July 2000, a decision taken by the holding Co's Chairman, Mr. Harris, together with my father, who was then the Managing Director . In October 2006, I initiated the MBO and bought our parent company's shareholding in this company and finally took control of the business.
Currently we have a 70-75% market share locally and our aim is to reach 90% in the near future. Our main aim now is to harness the potential of the export market and generate the higher levels of growth, as there is also the added advantage of not only the size of the international market but, also the inflow of foreign exchange revenue. This future is a possiblity for Harris Ceylon, because of the dedicated work force and the commitment and support given to the management by all its staff and factory employees.
