History
1928
The Midland Trading Company is founded in Birmingham by Leslie G. Harris.
1933
Midland Trading Company renamed L.G.Harris & Co Ltd.
1936
The company moves to an old disused flour mill in Stoke Prior, Bromsgrove.
1950s
The DIY boom begins leading to Harris' first national advertising campaign in the cinema and press with the message "the bristles won't come out".
1953
Paint rollers introduced onto the production line.
1961
Harris are awarded the Royal Warrant for the supply of painting and decorating brushes - reinforcing their reputation of quality.
1962
Paint scrapers and tools become a core part of the business.
1974
New 100,000sq.ft warehouse and despatch department built to accommodate the growing range of products.
1988
Introduction of Taskmasters as Harris' new 'quality with economy' value range.
1993
No-loss paint brushes launched as the world's first brush guaranteed against bristle loss whilst painting.
1999/2000
Factory expanded for a dedicated roller factory and for large stocks of overseas goods.
2003
Twin manufacturing introduced with opening of the first wholly-owned Chinese factory.
2004
T-class range is launched for professional decorators.
Harris begins rapid export expansion.
2004
Work begins on new purpose-built Chinese factory.
2007
Official opening of Harris China.
